Dental Veneer Treatment in detail.

A very thin layer of tooth enamel is removed in preparation – equal to the thickness of the veneer itself – so your tooth remains exactly the same size.
Once your tooth has been prepared, we will take an impression of it to send to our dental technician who will build the veneer and match its colour to your surrounding teeth.

A veneer takes at least two visits: the first to prepare the tooth and match the shade, and the second to fit it. The tooth will look very much the same after preparation but will feel slightly less smooth and in some cases it may be necessary to wear a temporary veneer in between visits. Before bonding the permanent veneer in place we will place it on your tooth to make sure you are happy with it.

Minor adjustments can be made to the veneer after it is fitted although it is usually best to wait a while to get used to it before any changes are made. In any case we will arrange a further appointment to check and polish your veneer and make sure you’re happy with it.

Veneers should last for many years but they can chip or break like real teeth, although small chips can be repaired, or a new veneer fitted if necessary. As an alternative, natural-coloured filling material can be used for minor repairs to front teeth. This works when the tooth can support a filling but not for broken tooth corners because there will always be a join between the tooth and the filling material.

Dental Crown Treatment in detail.

Your permanent crown will be matched to fit the colour of your surrounding teeth and will be fitted with a special adhesive designed to make it last for up to 20 years with proper care.

A crown can cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth left, and can also be used to attach a bridge or protect a weak tooth from breaking.

Crowns are also a really good solution for teeth that are discoloured or badly shaped, or after root-canal-treatment when teeth can become brittle as a result of losing nerves and blood supply.

Dental Bridge Treatment in detail.

Traditionally, placing a bridge would have caused damage to your healthy supporting teeth, which were filed down to create space, but due to advances in materials we no longer need to remove as much healthy tooth structure.

A very small portion of enamel will be removed on your first visit to allow room for a crown to be placed over the adjacent teeth. Impressions of your teeth will then be made, which serve as a model from which the bridge, false teeth and crowns are made in a dental lab.

We will make a temporary bridge for you to wear to protect the exposed teeth and gums while the bridge is being made. During your second visit, your temporary bridge will be removed and the new all porcelain or porcelain bonded to metal bridge will be checked and adjusted, as necessary, to ensure a perfect fit.

Bridges can also be fitted to dental implants.

The obvious reason for choosing a bridge is to enhance your appearance by replacing a missing tooth. But a bridge can also improve your bite and reduce the stress on other teeth.

Our ‘porcelain bonded to metal’ bridges offer great looks, incredible strength and good value for money.

Pure Porcelain.
Recent advances in dental science allow us to offer pure porcelain bridges with no metal whatsoever. This incredibly strong and beautiful material is the closest you can get to growing a replacement tooth without the expense of a dental implant.

Dentures in detail.

A well made, properly fitted denture, whether it’s a partial or full mouth device, can bring you renewed freedom from soreness or discomfort, together with all the benefits of a natural-looking smile.

We offer a full range of partial and full dentures in acrylic and chrome. The advantage of using metal is the base may be smaller, covering less of the soft tissue in your mouth, and so the denture feels more comfortable to wear and eat with.

As well as improving appearance and chewing, a partial denture may also prevent the remaining teeth from drifting out of position in the mouth, which can lead to further tooth loss.
