Orthodontic problems, like crooked teeth, are often caused by your lips and tongue
While the bones in our jaws may be strong, over time the constant action of muscles around them can lead to an underdeveloped jaw and poor facial appearance.
Clear or Ceramic braces are just as effective as their metal equivalents but remain far less obtrusive. Not only do the brackets come in a clear or tooth coloured shade but even the wires are difficult to see.
Clear braces may be an excellent option if you are looking for a combination of faster results but with a less noticeable appearance than traditional alternatives.
Our range of braces gently move teeth into a position that help people in many ways such as:
- Improve your smile
- Straighten crooked, crowded or protruding teeth
- Close gaps between teeth
- Correct bite (so that the top and bottom teeth can meet)

Why Choose Clear Braces?
Straight teeth are the foundation for good oral health because they are easier to clean, making decay, gum disease and tooth loss far less likely. Crooked teeth can wear down enamel and lead to a whole range of other issues too such as jaw pain, headaches and difficulty eating. But perhaps the most obvious drawback is they can really affect your self-confidence, making it difficult to smile.
Modern braces are smaller and less obvious than the devices most adults of a certain age remember growing up with, especially when ceramic is used rather than traditional stainless steel.
Clear braces use clear or tooth coloured square brackets cemented to your teeth which are fixed to wire. The wire’s still made of metal like with traditional braces, although white wire can be used to make it more discreet.
Brackets have little elastic bands on them to hold the wire, and with clear braces these are white or clear. They are changed each time your braces are tightened so they stay fresh and don’t get stained.
Some types of clear braces don’t need elastic bands at all because the wire is fed directly through the brackets. This type of design not only speeds up treatment time, it can improve your comfort and reduce the number of times you need to see us through the course of your treatment.
Clear braces apply continuous pressure over 12 to 24 months to slowly move your teeth, and as they move your jawbone accommodates the new position of the roots. Our dentists will closely monitor you over the course of your treatment and also for a while after it has finished to make sure your teeth are being moved correctly and remain in a stable position.
